March 2013 We’ve made it through the winter months now, and March brings spring sports practices, the final push to the musical and the Pops Concert, and (hopefully) some warmer weather. At South Seneca, every month is busy, but the slightly warmer temperatures and longer daytime light makes it feel like we really get into high gear this time of year. In the classroom, we are paying attention to every single student as he or she builds the skills necessary to be a productive 21st century citizen. On one level, we watch to make sure that the minimum requirements are being met (accumulate your credits, maximize your test scores, etc.), but beyond this, we are just as interested that our students internalize their lessons to make the most of their potentials. Whether we send our students to college or to the workforce, we want our South Seneca graduates to be well-equipped for their future. For everyone reading this: please do take the time to familiarize yourself with the materials the district is providing as we tell the story of our budget development this spring. Our best hope for the community is that each person has a full understanding of the issues the Board of Education is grappling with as we head to the polls in May. Even better, come out to the board meetings in the next couple of months and hear the full discussion. In the meantime, let’s look forward to the production of Narnia on March 15, 16, and 17; the pops concert on the 27th, and the baseball, softball, and track teams as they hit the diamonds and the track beginning in April.
